CryoPen is a type of cryotherapy, where extreme cold is used to freeze and destroy abnormal tissue. It's a non-invasive procedure, meaning there are no cuts, bleeding, or stitches. The CryoPen device uses a high-pressure jet of nitrous oxide to target the lesion, freezing the tissue and disrupting the cell membrane.

The precision of the device allows for precise, targeted treatment without damaging the surrounding tissue so is particularly effective for facial lesions and imperfections, including those in the eye area.

Typical Treatment Areas

  • Skin lesions

  • Warts and verrucae

  • Milia

  • Skin tags

  • Age spots

  • Cherry angiomas

There are no cuts, bleeding or stitches required and treatment is fast with a high success rate. Most patients can return to their daily activities immediately after treatment.

Aftercare

It is normal for some swelling, redness or blistering to appear on the treated area which may last for several hours to several days after treatment. You may apply aloe vera to the affected area which is particularly soothing when cooled in the refrigerator. Any scabs or crusting which forms after the treatment may take up to six weeks to disappear and the treatment area may appear a little darker. The total skin healing time, including the fading of any residual redness to the area may take up to three months.

The First Few Days:

Avoid touching or cleansing the treated areas for approximately 48-72 hours. After this time, gently cleanse the area and pat dry with a clean tissue or towel.

Avoid applying makeup for approximately 48-72 hours.

Don’t use soap, perfumed products or heavy moisturisers to the treated area for approximately 48-72 hours.

Apply aloe vera to the affected area with clean cotton wool (not fingers). Aloe Vera that is cooled in the fridge can maximise the soothing effect.

The First Few Weeks:

Don’t pick at any scabs which may form.

Use a good SPF of 30 or higher to the area every day, regardless of weather conditions.
