Follow up maintenance treatment at 6 month intervals is recommended.
Aftercare
Normal side-effects include temporary redness, swelling, bruising, small red bumps at injection points and tenderness or tightness in the treated area, which usually subsides within days. Any bruising can be managed with the application of arnica gel and concealer.
The First Few Hours:
Do not touch, rub or massage the injection sites for at least 24 hours to prevent moving the product.
Apply cold packs (wrapped in cloth) to reduce swelling and tenderness.
The First Few Days:
Avoid applying makeup for approximately 24 hours.
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, hot drinks, sauna, steam, direct sun exposure and strenuous exercise for 48 hours.
Avoid anti-inflammatory medication (aspirin, ibuprofen) for 1-2 days to minimise any swelling or bruising. You should also avoid blood thinners (again aspirin), fish oil and Vitamin E for 1-2 weeks after treatment.
Use a gentle cleanser and light moisturiser for the first 48 hours – you may resume your full skincare routine after 2-3 days.
It is recommended to sleep with your head elevated on the first night after treatment to reduce any swelling.
The First Few Weeks:
Avoid dental work and vaccinations for at least 2 weeks before and after treatment.
Use a good SPF of 30 or higher every day for the next 2 weeks or longer and maintain your regular skin care routine with a mild cleanser and moisturiser daily.
Keep well hydrated – this treatment works best when your skin is hydrated from the inside out.
Avoid facials, chemical peels or laser treatment for at least 2 weeks.
WHEN TO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION
Allergy or Infection is extremely rare. If you do experience the following symptoms, then please seek urgent medical advice.
If you experience severe or increasing pain, heat or swelling at the injection site, signs of infection (pus, fever, spreading redness), or skin discolouration (paleness, blue/grey) or any symptoms or reactions that don’t seem right then please contact your aesthetics practitioner immediately.
Anaphylaxis : although this is extremely rare, it is a serious condition which requires urgent medical attention. Symptoms may include swelling, rashes, redness or blotching around your face and you may experience difficulty in breathing or talking. CALL 999.
